T. Langston Bass, Jr. is a graduate of Duke University (B.A. in History and Religion) and Mercer University, Walter F. George School of Law. He started the practice of law in Savannah in 1993. Mr. Bass is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah Bar Association, the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute (SEALI), the Maritime Law Association of the United States and the American Bar Association. He is the past president of the Savannah Bar Association and is a past president of the Savannah Younger Lawyers Division. Mr. Bass previously served as a member of the board of trustees of the Telfair Museum of Art, as the Secretary of the board of trustees, and is a past president of the William Jay Society of the Telfair Museum of Art. Mr. Bass is a past president for the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Savannah. He is an Eagle Scout and has previously served on the Tidelands District Committee for the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Bass practices primarily in the insurance defense area, but also practices in the admiralty and maritime area. He is admitted to practice in the state courts of Georgia, Georgia Court of Appeals, Supreme Court of Georgia, Federal District Courts for the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Georgia and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has trial experience in the Magistrate, State and Superior Courts in Georgia and the United States District Courts for the Southern District and Middle District of Georgia. Mr. Bass also has appellate experience in the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Bass' experience includes: (1) admiralty personal injury and death suits under the Jones Act and general maritime law; (2) collision and allision admiralty suits for property and cargo damage; (3) vessel arrests and attachments; (4) limitation of liability; (5) maritime lien actions; (6) ship repair contract disputes; (7) pollution spills; (8) suits involving insurance coverages including casualty, homeowners, umbrella and cargo; (9) commercial disputes; (10) disputes between general contractors and subcontractors; (11) accidents involving automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, pedestrians, etc.; (12) products liability cases involving personal injury and property damage; (13) cases involving indemnity, hold harmless agreements, and multi-party settlement issues; (14) seizures and sales of vessels; (15) pleasure watercraft cases; (16) wage claims; (17) dock damage cases; and (18) Oil Pollution Act defense. Other nonadmiralty experience includes personal injury defense, wrongful death defense, property damage defense, premises liability defense, electrical contact defense, contract disputes and declaratory judgment actions.
