Richard J. Harris (Of Counsel)
Richard Harris Richard J. Harris is a graduate of Emory University and the University of Virginia Law School. He has practiced law in Savannah since 1963 and is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (Executive Council), the Defense Research Institute, the American Judicature Society, as well as the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and Savannah Bar Association. Mr. Harris is admitted to practice in all of the state courts of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of Georgia, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Harris has served as a School Board Attorney for Effingham County since 1975 and is a member of the Georgia and National Councils of School Boards Attorneys. He is Past President of the Kiwanis Club of Savannah and served as Lieutenant Governor for Kiwanis Clubs in Southeast Georgia. A Methodist, Mr. Harris is a member of the White Bluff United Methodist Church, where he is a Past Chairman of the Administrative Board; he is also a Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Savannah District Parsonage, United Methodist Church.

Mr. Harris has had over forty-five years of trial experience. He has represented insurance companies and self-insureds in various state courts in southeast and middle Georgia, and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Georgia, and has defended numerous state and federal workers' compensation cases. In addition, he has defended racial and employee discrimination cases as School Board Attorney for the Effingham County School System, and also regularly handles commercial and real estate litigation matters. Mr. Harris has also defended business fraud cases, and handled suits involving the Jones Act, Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act, the general maritime law, disputed rights-of-way, boundary line disputes, zoning actions, and disputes as between corporate directors and stockholders.
