G. Mason White is a graduate of the University of Georgia (B.S., cum laude) and the University of Georgia Law School. Mr. White co-authored "Duty to Settle and Insurance Counsel's Ethical Dilemmas," Georgia State Bar Journal, November 1989; "Update on Interpleader and Multiple Claims", Georgia Defense Lawyers Association 1992 Journal, and he is a frequent lecturer at local, state and national seminars. Mr. White has practiced law in Savannah since 1985, and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Savannah, Federal and American Bar Associations, the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Savannah East. Mr. White has served as the firm's Managing Partner since 1990. Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory has awarded Mr. White its highest individual rating (AV).
Mr. White concentrates his practice in the area of insurance defense litigation. He handles cases in the local state courts (Superior, State, etc.), as well as the Federal District Court for the Southern District of Georgia. A significant amount of White's litigation practice is in Savannah's surrounding counties (Liberty, Bryan, Effingham, Glynn, Bulloch, Tattnall, Appling and McIntosh). He has been first chair in over 150 jury trials. Mr. White has experience in all Georgia Appellate Courts and has also handled cases in the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. White's experience extends to numerous types of litigation, including (1) accidents involving automobiles, trucks, bicycles, pedestrians, boats,slip and fall, drawbridges and locomotives; (2) lawsuits involving professional malpractice; (3) lawsuits arising under the Employees Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA); (4) cases involving various indemnity and hold harmless agreements; (5) lawsuits filed by railroad workers pursuant to the Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA); (6) suits arising from interpretations of health and life insurance policies; (7) declaratory judgment actions filed on behalf of liability insurers; (8) wrongful arrest and malicious prosecution claims; (9) wrongful death actions; and (10) investigation and litigation involving fraudulent first-party claims and third-party claims. Mr. White also defends and advises employers and insurers in both State Workers Compensation matters and claims filed under the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act.
